Last week 2 bicyclists were killed the same morning in Brooklyn.
Stay aware of cars around you people.
It could save your life.

A bicyclist was fatally struck by a truck early Thursday in Brooklyn, two hours before a speeding car killed another bike rider in the borough, authorities said.
In the first crash, Craig Murphy, 26, was crossing Ten Eyck St. in Williamsburg when the truck turned from Union Ave. and into the bicyclist, cops said.
Murphy was a member of Right Rides, a free volunteer service that offers rides home at night in North Brooklyn and in other city neighborhoods, according to Transportation Alternatives, a bicycle advocacy group.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:15 a.m. crash.
Less than three miles away at 6:20 a.m., a 25-year-old man was mowed down as he biked across Fulton St. in Bedford Stuyvesesant, cops said.
Alfred Taylor, 41, of Williamsburg was speeding east on Fulton St. near Utica Ave. when he struck the victim, whose name was not released pending family notification.
Taylor was charged with criminally negligent homicide, cops said.
Craig was a friend of a friend and a GREAT kid. He helped out with charities and right ride and a million other things.

Smell's the most primal sense, and one odor in particular has beguiled men for centuries: the natural scent of woman. Now German "perfumery" Viva Eros has captured this elemental fragrance in a spray bottle, with Vulva.
Vulva's creators intend this product as an enabler of vigorous masturbation (evidenced by their suggestion of spraying your hand, taking a long whiff, and "letting your libido take over"). But even if you're not a demented freak, there are still plenty of worthwhile things to do with your Vulva:
Maintain your reputation: STDs got you off the market? Spray Vulva all over your fingers, hands, elbows, knees, etc, for that real "ladies man" smell, and you'll show your buddies you've still got it-- even if the sores suggest otherwise.
Initiate a breakup: Dousing yourself in Vulva right before you meet for that fateful coffee means you won't have to broach the topic of infidelity, since the scent will do it for you.
Play cruel practical jokes: Spray Vulva on a friend's tennis racket, hair dryer, or toothbrush. When he asks about the smell, tell him "My mother borrowed it."
To keep things interesting, soon Viva Eros will release two new scents: the barely legal bouquet of Vulva 18, and Vulva Exotic, for that zestfully venal essence of the Amazon. Finally, men can enjoy the mystery of these wondrous aromas without panty-raiding freshman dorms or having sex with jaguars.
*I will take no credit for finding this, it was passed on to me from a co-worker.

The crisp air turns the forest into a warm inviting place, with colors that you can feel. These colors, so brilliant, the fog surrounding them glows until the rising sun chases the it into hiding as it warms the air and your face. You can't help but smi
The air begins to cool, the fog comes out of hiding for the night, the water is smooth as freshly fallen snow. Every around you is glowing, your smiling.

I'm not sure if this is real, but they claim it's legal. Parents can put their 13 years old(and up) up for sale to the proper ma....
Prices range for 6k to 100k. Prices dependent on how much money is owed on the house and cars. But if its a biblical thing, then prices should be in cattle and sheep.

"Thank God for your site! Our daughter was really nervous walking down the aisle, but she seems okay now and the money we got let us keep our farm and even add on a few acres."
—Mrs. Addrien L.
"At first we were worried that Janine was too young to get married, but then her new husband bought her a house and a car and jewelry and the money we got let us buy a house for ourselves. Getting out of the trailer park at our age was the best thing that ever happened to us, and it’s all thanks to Marry Our Daughter!"
—Mr. Jack M.
“I was SO scared getting married so young, but my husband is an okay guy and I am SO proud that because of me my parents were able to get their first brand-new car and take the trip they always wanted to. I couldn’t have done it without your site!"
—Katrina K., married at 14
“Our 15 year old daughter Mary wasn’t very popular and did nothing but mope around the house bringing everybody down, so we decided to marry her off through your site. Now our house is a lot cheerier and we love our new swimming pool and Jaccuzi! We’ve told our youngest that when she turns 15 we’re going to marry her off too!"
—Mrs. James P.
“My mother thought I was getting ‘too frisky” and that I had to get married right away before I lost my purity to some high school boy. Marry Our Daughter found me a husband and my parents were able to keep their house and pay off my mother’s medical bills. I was so glad I could help them, and being married at my age (I'm 16 now) has a lot of advantages, like my own credit card!"

Wow.
Non-Doping Cyclists Finish Tour De France
PARIS—A small but enthusiastic crowd of several dozen was on hand at the Tour de France's finish line on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées Tuesday to applaud the efforts of the 28 cyclists who completed the grueling 20-stage, 2,208.3-mile race without the aid of performance-enhancing drugs.Great Britain's Bradley Wiggins finished the final 56km time trial in a respectable and drug-free 4 hours and 38 minutes.
Finland's Piet Kvistik, a domestique with the Crédit Mondial team, was this year's highest-finishing non-doping rider (142nd overall). Kvistik claimed the maillot propre, the blue jersey worn by the highest-placed "clean" rider, on the ninth stage of the race when the six riders who had previously worn it tested positive for EPO, elevated levels of testosterone, and blood-packing.
"This is a very, very proud day for me," said the 115-pound Kvistik, who lost 45% of his body mass during the event, toppled from his saddle moments after finishing, and had to be administered oxygen, fed intravenously, and injected with adrenaline by attending medical personnel. "They say it is physically impossible to ride all of the Tour without drugs, but we prove them wrong this day."
"What day is it, anyway?" asked Kvistik, his eyes rolling wildly in his head. "I can no longer tell."
Kvistik's overall time for the Tour was 571 hours, 22 minutes, and 33 seconds, beating by over an hour the previous record for a non-enhanced rider, set by Albrect Påart during 1923's infamous ether-and-morphine-shortened race. Kvistik finished a mere 480 hours behind Alberto Contador, the overall winner, making 2007's margin between doping and non-doping riders the closest in history.
"It became most difficult for us on the 7th stage, which was almost 200 kilometers and the first stage through the mountains," Kvistik said while accepting the non-doping victor's 100-franc check from his stretcher. "Not only did the excruciating pain and weakness in my legs make it difficult to walk my bike on the steeper stretches, it was mentally very hard to know that half the other clean riders were dead or dying. Also, the other 141 riders finished the Tour in Paris that morning, which made it all that much harder."
"It's rather a shame that the Tour's 'clean' riders, or 'lanternes naturelles' as the fans call them, receive so little attention, for their monumental achievement," said cycling commentator Phil Liggett, reporting on the non-doping riders' finish for Versus-2, the little-sister network to Versus, who carried the main Tour de France coverage. "It's nearly impossible to compete in the full Tour while shot full of human growth hormone, erythropoietin, testosterone, glucocorticosteroids, synthetic testosterone, anabolic steroids, horse testosterone, amphetamines, and one's own pre-packed oxygen-rich red blood cells. To do it on water and bananas is almost heroic, no matter what one's time is."
While Kvistik's achievement is being celebrated by cycling insiders, critics of the Tour de France maintain that not enough is being done to combat the use of performance-enhancing substances in cycling's premier event.
"Nonsense—pure nonsense," said Tour general director Christian Prudhomme, who was vacationing in Switzerland as Kvistik crossed the finish line. "We have done everything we could imagine, both in terms of prize money and other incentives, to promote riders who compete without pharmaceutical aid. But we simply do not have the resources, nor the viewers the interest, to televise the entire two months it takes for a normal, unadulterated human to circumnavigate an entire nation on a bicycle."
Kvistik remains in critical condition at the Hôpital Neuilly-sur-Seine, where he was placed in a medically induced coma to aid his recovery from exhaustion, malnutrition, and loss of bone density. Attending physicians say he is not expected to return to cycling.Wednesday, August 29, 2007

1. I clicked "Next Blog>>" on top of this page and it came up with this gem. I then proceed to read it out loud to the rest of the guys for the next several minutes. This one was next after that. I have no friggen clue.
2. We all have these foam globe balls that a supplier dropped off for us. Thus an instant indoor foam ball war. No rules. This has been going on for weeks now. I have adopted the sniper route, only picking off people as they pass by.
3. Hide the lap top.
4. Hide desk top icons and other non-destructive computer mayhem.
5. Super glue things shut. Great fun.
6. Fill not so nice peoples car's with packing peanuts.
7. Picking up spare change off the floor with the hi-lo.
8. Super Gluing change to the floor to watch people try to pick it up.
9. Play stick ball with cardboard tubes and foam balls. Nothing has been broken, yet.
10. Indoor 50cc motor cycle race. Only one crash, not me.
11. Scare the piss out of my co-workers. I use my stealth to do this.
12. Come in late, leave early. You have be symmetrical you know.

Me, having never ridden the trail before had to inquire some trail beta at during the riders meeting.
length:5.5 miles, 5miles of single track.
Climbing: Not much
Tech: Very. Lots of roots. Tight and Twisty.
The race for the solo riders starts at 12:01 pm. And we were off, fast. I wanted to get out front on the 1st lap so I could find my way through the twisted mess of roots and rocks without having follow anyone.
The Start:
The Hole Shot:
For the first quarter for the race, I only dismounted twice to swap out bikes and get fresh bottles and a refill on my gels. My legs are feeling ok at this point, but i wish the course had some were I could open it up at and flush the lactic acids from my quads.
After 5 hours on the bike, I needed a break. Just as I sit down, 2nd place roles by and goes out for another lap. Shit. I dump 8 oz's of coke into a water bottle grab a dark molasses cookie, mount up. I'm off, cookie in hand I pass the rider to get back 1st place. I stayed out for a 4 more laps before coming in again and forceing my self to sit down for a solid 15 minutes.
Lap??: I think 5.5 hours in to it.
I hear the announcer call out the time 5:59:59 all 6 hour riders are done. I think to my self and think it was out loud. "Why the fuck am I racing for 12 hours. I should have done the 6". Several minutes later I smash into tree. As I come by I check the the lap count sheet, I beat all the 6 hour teams and solo racers by over a lap.
After 6 hours my legs feel like hell. I start dropping sport legs in a last ditch attempt to get the my legs to refresh for the second half of the race. I try to settle in to a pace but my legs are killing me. After each lap I stop and sit down for mintue. At this point, I am also sucking down gels and coke like it's going of style. I'm fading. It's getting cold out. I want to quit.
7 hours in:
For the next hour and a half I just keeping telling my self I need to stay on the bike. I need to keep rolling. On last bike change for night, I hop off my suspended rig and grab the ridged so my crew can get my lights ready. I tell my crew I want to quit. They hand me my bottles and bike. I get back on.
My legs are feeling better at this point, the cooler temperatures giving them a new lease on life for a few hours.
Time for the lights, 8:45pm.
As the darkness sweeps through the woods and chases the remaining sun light away. The woods begins to glow from the HID's and you can see red lights dancing through the trees.
I hit the trail, with only one light burning as I get deeper in to the woods I reach up to turn on my 2nd light. Click, Click. Nothing. FUCK. ClIIIIIIIIIICK. FUCK. CLICK CLICK. Shit. I keep rolling and swing back in to the pits to have my light checked out. Click Click. It fires right up. WTF.
Before I head back out, I grab another cookie, a 8oz bottle of coke and some sustained energy drink. My legs feeling good my new plan is to stay on the bike for the rest of the night. Only stopping once on the trail to piss.
As the laps and hours roll by I keep on spinning though the blackness.
I touch my ribs, the skin is sore. My kindness, they hurt. 2 of my toes on my left foot are numb. My elbows hurt. My shoulders are numb to.
As I roll into the my last hour, I realize that I have not seen 2nd place in a few hours. A sense of urgency floods over me and a rider closes in from behind, I have no clue who it is... I speed up not wanting them to catch me. As I pass back by I try to read the number plate. I missed it. In a last ditch effort, I stand up out of every corner and sprint. I'm full of emotions and running on empty at this point.
I wanted to quit, 11:35 pm. The 2nd place rider has not checked in for a lap in over an hour. I ride back down the pit. Looking for someone to pace me for one last lap. I'm beat, but I need one more lap. I roll up to the check in and stop. 272 heading back out. I muttered, I'm putting the final nail in the coffin.
The sense of urgency is gone. I'm freezing. I walk every climb. I'm alone.
12:06 am I cross the finish line. I'm done. I turn off my lights and head back to the pit.
I racked out 26 laps. 145 miles just shy of 12 mph avg.
1st Single Speed Mens Open/Solo
3rd Over All.
I beat 2nd place by 4 laps and 22 minutes he had quit around 10:30, only to check back in at 11:45 to head back out for one last lap.

Saturday I was out in the sun all day at Waterford Hill for the AMA Supermoto race.
Sunday I was on my bike for 3 hours with Paula. We did a lap of PLRA and then 20 or miles of back roads. The original plan was to ride 2 laps at PLRA then some where around 45 miles of back roads. Yeah, it pretty much sucked so we cut the ride short and headed to lake to cool down and clean up.
It's hot out side today too.

Money. It comes. It goes.
But I have a warped sense of what is cheap. I'm not sure if it is related to the sports I do or something else, but I'm backasswards. I think. Maybe its the fact that all the thinks I do these days do cost so much money. Or maybe I don't like having to buy things twice.
I'll drop a couple of hundred dollars on bike parts, skis or fly fishing stuff with out a thought. But anything else I haggle over, clothes, shoes.
Cheap toys for me are under 100$.
What is normal?
